Farewell sweet Henry! Here is the loving message Charlotte sent to those who helped get him to safety: Do you remember Henry, the Spaniel/Corgi mutt all of you believed in when he was brought to WLA for biting a family member at the ripe old age of 15? Who, after what seemed like an unusually long quarantine, was lucky enough to have Mirja Bishop believe enough to reach out to senior rescues. His puppy like face and funny little legs got to me and Terry Wagner headed north to deliver him to us in May, 2013. Thus began Henrys new life at the ripe old age of 15. He was a little grouchy initially but those memories are long gone, because after just a few weeks, Henry settled in and never looked back. His tail wagged nonstop and he perked up like a happy pup. Before we knew it Henry was flying around the yards --thanks for the Cosequin, even taking the occasional field trip to the beach! In the last few months there were a few rough periods where Henry needed help getting around but then hed hit level ground and all was well again. It wasnt until just this week that Henry seemed finally ready to give up the ghost. His little old back legs were plain old tired, doing his business was rough and gentleman that he was, keeping his dignity became paramount. So today Henry was put to sleep by marvelously compassionate Dr Sprayberry at Cal Poly. His last hour was in the green grass with the horses and cows and pretty young vet students around him and with such tremendous caring. It is an amazing place to say goodbye to the world. Thank you all for believing in him and sending him to MCR. He was so loved and so special and best of all, he died knowing it.
