Fascinating...I never knew! These gates were moved from the Stonebridge mansion in Macalester-Groveland area (once considered for the governors mansion) to Como Parks west entrance.....and the big frog on the pond across from the Conservatory? Also from the same estate! Side note....Stonebridge was built by Clarence Johnston for Oliver Crosby, whos name I would not immediately recognize, but have used his patented invention a zillion times , the Crosby Clip....he also designed the largest cranes and derricks that were used in many huge projects, most notably, digging the Panama Canal. Sadly, the mansion itself was torn down in 1953. Photo credit for the gates (undated) (homesmsprealestateblog/history/)....the frog (undated) (rchs/Stonebridge/stonebridge_estate.htm)
