*Fasting Reminder* 13th (Wednesday) & 14th (Thursday) November (9 & 10 Muharram) Ibn `Abbas (radiyAllahuanhu) reported: The Messenger of Allah ( ﷺ) observed Saum (fasting) on the day of `Ashura and commanded us to fast on this day. (Riyad as-Salihin 1251) It was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbaas (radiyAllahuanhu) I never saw the Prophet ( ﷺ) so keen to make sure he fasted any day and preferring it over another except this day, the day of ‘Ashoora’, and this month – meaning Ramadaan. (Bukhaari, 1867) Abu Qatadah (radiyAllahuanhu) reported: The Messenger of Allah ( ﷺ) was asked about observing As-Saum (the fast) on the tenth day of Muharram, and he replied, It is an expiation for the sins of the preceding year. (Muslim 1162, at-Tirmidhi 752, Ibn Majah 1738) Ibn `Abbas (radiyAllahuanhu) reported: The Messenger of Allah ( ﷺ) said, If I remain alive till the next year, I shall also observe fast on the ninth of Muharram. (Muslim 1134)
