Fatal Accident On November 9, 2013 at approximately 2209 hours, the Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies, Dixon EMS, Polo Ambulance, and the Polo Fire Department were dispatched to the 600 block of N. Union Rd., Polo for the report of a one vehicle accident with injuries. The accident revealed that a vehicle traveling south on Union Rd. lost control and left the roadway colliding with an electric pole. The driver of the vehicle, Jason W. Wagner, age 23 of Polo, was transported by Dixon EMS to KSB Hospital in Dixon, then transferred to a Rockford Hospital, then to OFS in Peoria with serious injuries. Rear seat passenger, Jay R. Wagner, age 18 of Albuquerque, New Mexico was transported to KSB Hospital in Dixon by Polo Ambulance with minor injuries. The front seat passenger, Melanie R. Wagner, age 22 of Albuquerque, New Mexico was ejected from the vehicle during the accident and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Ogle County Coroner. The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Polo Police Department.
