Through the years I did not deserve your love You never gave up, you rose above All of my life you have been there for me Though often mine eyes would not let me see I cant explain what your love has meant to me The strength it has imparted to your son I hope you see More than a father, more than a patriarch Your love has left a lasting mark I have always had your example on how to live A fathers example on how love to give I have only recently begun to live by that example Though as long as I can remember it has been there for me to sample Father is a word I hold on high Know that without your love I would not have gotten by For a better father a man could not ask You never gave up, though hard was the task Though I do not often say it to you Many hard times has your love brought me through So thank you and God Bless for all you have done From your ever grateful and often wayward son
