Father Emil Kapaun was a Roman Catholic priest and U.S. Army - TopicsExpress

Father Emil Kapaun was a Roman Catholic priest and U.S. Army chaplain who died as a prisoner of war in the Korean War. In 1993, Pope John Paul II declared him a Servant of God, the first stage on the path to Catholic sainthood. On April 11, 2013, Father Kapaun was awarded the Medal of Honor by President Obama for his extraordinary heroic actions as a POW. His home town and parish are Pilsen, Kansas at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church. Dana and I had the privilege of visiting his church in Pilsen on Oct. 11, 2014. It is a remarkable place of worship, even for a small Kansas town. (Click to see all the pictures.)
