Father, as we pause to consider the beauty of this day and the magnificence of Your creation, our minds drift to the things that we know about You—You have written Yourself into our hearts, You have given us Your Infallible Word, Jesus Christ lived out life in the manner You want us to live, and the Holy Spirit has filled us as our guide and teacher … and yet … and yet … we stumble believing the Law has more power than Grace, men’s traditions have more rights than Your Word, and our own biases create distortions that mask the Truth of the Holy Spirit. We have been taught to bring You sacrifices and burnt offerings rather than to simply know You and love You. Lord God, please reformat our spiritual hard drives; we desperately need You to erase every bias, every ridiculous tradition, every writing or teaching that is outside of Your Perfect Will. Please give us a willing eager mind, one that the Holy Spirit can teach and mold and shape into the image of Jesus … that we can become exactly who You created each of us to be.
