Father in Heaven, you are God and there is none like you. You have caused all there is to be. You have created a magnificent world that our best and brightest are still only scratching the surface of in their ability to comprehend. I love you Father, thank you for calling me to yourself and for confronting me with grace. Father, forgive me for sin in my life that I have not yet confessed. Holy Spirit, I take the time now for you to examine my heart... to bring to my mind things that need to be confessed and made right... Thank you for yesterdays victory over sinful desires and temptation. Thank you oh Holy Spirit. Lord teach me to daily offer myself to you. Teach me the importance of being intentional and habitual in this type of ceremonial prayer. I think of the Old Testament and the recorded prayers there. I think about the weight given certain offerings or memorials, like Joshua and the Jordan and Jacob at his ladder. I think of your call to discipleship to daily take up my cross, then Paul instructing me to make my body a living sacrifice and how the Jews and Romans would have considered what that may look like. You are my God! I dont need a household idol or even a shrine, but there is something about taking a few moments to come before you, in full awareness of why I can, through Jesus blood, accepted because of Him. It helps me to review my life before you and before I start the day. It helps to remember who I am now, the master of my desires and emotions, all because of you Lord. I consider how Paul in Romans 6 reminds me to stop offering the members of my body to a dead nature that no longer has mastery over me. How through Paul you call me to count myself dead to sin, to recall that I am a new creature, that I may now make offerings of righteousness to you because of the newness of life I now possesses. Lord I consider how I am to offer the members of my body to do righteousness, freely enabled to harness my desires and tie them to your Spirit to be fulfilled in you. Whether the desires to possess things or others, or the desires for power or station, or the desires of appetites I give them all to be filled by you in ways acceptable you. I find my value in my relationship to you oh Lord my God, I am accepted in the beloved! Just as I am, I come broken to be mended, I come wounded to be healed! Thank you Lord! Oh Jesus, help me to lead your bride, to care for her in your absence and to teach her and confront her with your truth. She is yours and I am honored to guide and protect her. Lord I pray that she would hear Your Word and that she would heed it. Oh Lord Jesus, there are some that I know of who are so deeply wounded that they need special attention from you and the Holy Spirit. I pray that you would minister to their hearts the act of submission to yourself, forgiveness of themselves or others, and freedom from sin or self-righteousness or pride. I pray that your ministering angels would surround them and hold them close to you, keeping out unholy spirits and their unholy influence. I name these individuals now to you... Lord God I have seen you do miracles in other lives, acts of relational and emotional healing, and I beg you to accomplish this in these dear ones as well. Thank you for giving me the courage to confront in grace with hope and to lead your church. Without you I would surely fail... as it is Im making enough mistakes. Lord Jesus, help me, help us, to make you proud to be called our God. In your name I pray, amen.
