Faux News Viewers don`t care if they`re being lied to. Fox is the ONLY so-called news organization that has ever defended itself in court by successfully arguing that there is no law, rule or regulation against LYING to distort a news broadcast. On February 14, 2003, a Florida Appeals court ruled there is absolutely nothing illegal about lying, concealing or distorting information by a major press organization. The court reversed the $425,000 jury verdict in favor of journalist Jane Akre who charged she was pressured by Fox Television management and lawyers to air what she knew and documented to be false information. The ruling declares that it is technically not against any law, rule, or regulation to deliberately lie or distort the news on a television broadcast. In simple English... An appeal was filed, and a ruling in February 2003 came down in favor of WTVT, who successfully argued that the FCC policy against falsification was not a law, rule, or regulation, and so the whistle-blower law did not qualify as the required law, rule, or regulation under section 448.102 of the Florida Statutes.[8] ... Because the FCCs news distortion policy is not a law, rule, or regulation under section 448.102 of the Florida Statutes,[8] Akre has failed to state a claim under the whistle-blowers statute.[6] The appeal did not address any falsification claims, noting that as a threshold matter ... Akre failed to state a claim under the whistle-blowers statute, but noted that the lower court ruled against all of Wilsons charges and all of Akres claims with the exception of the whistleblower claim that was overturned. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jane_Akre The judge’s full list of rulings pertaining to various aspects of the case can also be found at: caselaw.findlaw/fl-district-court-of-appeal/1310807.html#sthash.Xd8h5Lft.dpuf The judge’s final ruling on the case at large can be found in the 11th paragraph (as follows): Because the FCCs news distortion policy is not a “law, rule, or regulation” under section 448.102, Akre has failed to state a claim under the whistle-blowers statute. Accordingly, we reverse the judgment in her favor and remand for entry of a judgment in favor of WTVT. Now, if you want a GREAT laugh while seeing how pervasive the LYING is at Fox, Jon Stewart citing Politifact: thedailyshow/watch/tue-june-21-2011/fox-news-false-statements ******************************************** When the Fox crowd tells you that it is not true, remind them that the court case is a matter of public record in the Florida courts. And when the Fox crowd tried to claim this is a misrepresentation of the lawsuit, remind them them that the appeals court judge ultimately sided with Foxs argument and ruled against Jane Akre, Because the FCCs news distortion policy is not a “law, rule, or regulation” under section 448.102. Others will bash Jon Stewart without word one about Stewart citing Politifact, while others will trash Wikipedia (the simplified explanation), pretending that I never provided the caselaw link. And with any of these responses I would usually add, So, what you really mean to say is that you do not care that you are being lied to, as long as Fox keeps telling you what you want to hear. It drives the tea-bang fans of Fox absolutely nuts, because it stands in the way of their willfully ignorant delusions :-)
