Fazilka to be developed by spending Rs.11.75 crore Punjab Govt. to catalyse development of border area Projects include 24x7 power supply to villages, renovation of hospitals etc. Fazilka, 22 December : The government would boost the development of the district by spending Rs.11.75 crore under Border Area Development Programme (BADP) in the current fiscal year, said Manjeet Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner. Sharing the details of the projects, Deputy Commissioner said that Chief Minister Punjab, Parkash Singh Badal and Dy. Chief Minister, Sukhbir Singh Badal has taken special initiatives to catalyse the development of this border area. He said that as per Border Area Development Programme Rs.3.32 cr, Rs.5.13 cr and Rs.3.30 cr would be spend on the development works for development of Fazilka, Jalalabad and Khuian Sarvar blocks respectively. He further added that Rs.70 lacs would be spent on 65 projects to ensure 24 hour power supply to villages, Rs.4.46 crores on 34 projects of seting up and renovation of Civil and vetenary hospitals, Rs.5.88 crores on roads and related infrastructure, and Rs.71 lacs on ensuring safe drinking water supply to 15 villages. The Punjab government was paying stress on providing basic facilities like 24 hour power supply, health facilities, roads and safe drinking water in the border villages and was committed to raise the standard of living in the border areas of the state, Brar added.
