I see a possible connection between union culture in the area and my countys dismal standing among counties in terms of housing values--at the bottom of the top 50 most populous nationwide. What if union central is both most affected and least objective about the effects of unions in this area? An economist once told me that not moving (pensions) has a negative affect on area housing values due to a lack of dynamic action (think San Fran or NYC compared to the Mitten).
