Federal Cons were accused that 3.1 Billion supposedly missing ... - TopicsExpress

Federal Cons were accused that 3.1 Billion supposedly missing ... turns out it never was $3.1 billion hadnt gone missing. The auditor never said it had. All the auditor ever said in the first place was that the government had not thoroughly tracked WHICH final spending came from re-allocated or lapsed anti-terror money. We know, and have always known, precisely how much the government got in revenue, and precisely on what it was spent. To the penny (well, actually to the dollar). Its in the signed, audited Public Accounts of Canada. The trouble is that hardly anybody in the media, and hardly anybody in opposition research offices, has the slightest clue how to read a report by a government auditor or accountant. Most of the coverage of this matter, and most of the Liberal statements about it, fit somewhere between missing the point and outright inaccuracy (the NDP, to their credit, seemed to figure out it was a non-issue within a day or two). This shouldnt be an issue of trust; it should be an issue of financial literacy by the people who supposedly hold the government to account. YES LITERACY. Looking at you Liberals out there ... another reason why Justin & the Libs are NOT READY or COMPETENT enough to lead our country. fullcomment.nationalpost/2013/11/28/john-ivison-the-3-1-billion-conservative-boondoggle-that-never-was/
