A wheat germ based food for koi and goldfish has exceptional digestibility, especially at low temperatures. This is very important in colder climates where pond temperatures drop in the fall. Since koi and goldfish metabolisms slow down as the water temperature gets colder, so does their ability to digest the rich proteins often found in regular summer koi food. If the fish aren’t digesting their food well, then they aren’t getting the nutrition required to build up their stores of energy that they live off of during the winter months when they don’t eat.
