Feeding hungry children in the school holidays in Thornaby. On - TopicsExpress

Feeding hungry children in the school holidays in Thornaby. On Monday I visited Endeavour Housing Association on Teesdale to meet the Chief Executive Angela Lockwood and learn about their work and their aims and ambitions for their tenants. I also had a tour of some of their houses and homes in old Thornaby - and showed them where I used to live on Camelon Street. Particularly interesting was a visit to the community hub on Havelock Street - in a house converted into a cafe that Endeavour have given over to the community - where Margaret, Jan and Paula and their other volunteers feed local school children in the holidays. They also offer a lovely, warm environment to people who live in neighbouring streets and like to see a friendly face over a cup of tea and a bacon bun. They are doing a great job and I look forward to working with them over the coming years. They are dependent on donations to keep going and I hope people will bear them in mind when thinking perhaps about giving at Christmas, perhaps instead of sending cards.
