Feel like reading about all the wrong ideas invented by humans to explain and manipulate the natural world, like primitive religions? Read The Golden Bough by James George Frazer. A very interesting and informative book published a long time ago. After reading the unabridged version 20 years ago, including the numerous footnotes, I came to the realization that among other faiths, Christianity is really nothing more than a human sacrifice cult, teaching adherents that they will be saved because the Romans tortured a Jew to death 2014 years ago. There are a lot of people in this world who believe that all their problems will be solved by killing things. This is how governments operate. Until groups of humans are held accountable to the same rules of conduct as individuals, meaning they will be prosecuted for murder and theft, well, the world will continue to be the sad place it is today.
