Feeling pretty inadequate to fix my own problems, I turned to blame society, politics, and the climate. I have always been a military historian, I have a great wealth of production knowledge, and I want to do something to redeem my ego. Off I went the vigilante. My donations and protests werent having the results I had envisioned. I started looking at the “whys” of it all. Why arent all of us on solar, eating organic, and not pumping oil? The “Why” is no one including the non profits have paid attention to the real problems. No one has attacked our big corporate polluting enemies and have done any real damage. If this situation were defined in military terms, we keep running from battle to battle, without ever harassing their supply lines. Simply put, we go after their effects, we have never gone after their bullets. Doesnt that seem strange to you? We are always on site of their operations and fight them tooth and nail, but have we ever stopped oil or coal at the source? Im not saying the mines and oil rigs. I am talking specifically about their profits. To take their profits we must quit using oil, natural gas, coal, and wood. Well? If you look around you these resources are in everything. You are thinking about these resources in terms of power arent you? The huge angry gray clouds of pollution begin pumping in your minds eye. Youre right. However, the problem is much bigger than that. Did you stop to look at the Smartphone you are viewing this on? Or the lunch wrappers, cups, drink bottles and bags you have been throwing away all day? Did you envision the aspirin you took at lunch? There are uses for these polluting resources far beyond the car you drive or home energy use. And that is EXACTLY how we and this planet can win. I propose we concentrate on funding, providing, and buying products made without fossil fuels. That is the way forward and my Theory of Industrial Evolution. I hope if you took the time to read this letter, you will take the time to investigate my claims. You are incredibly powerful and the power lies in your wallet. If you are asking how is this going to make a difference? Its easy to see what 10 dollars can do when spent with purpose. After 7 Bond drives we financed and won World War 2. We made the automobile a culture as soon as the common person was able to afford one. We did the same with the light-bulb, telephone, DVD, and ITunes. We even funded a successful Presidential election ten dollars at a time. We can fix Pollution, War, Inflation, and alleviate poverty. It has happened. By doing everything you are doing today. No sacrifices and no dramatics. Just a gradual change, funded by commerce.
