Feeling proud, in less than 1 week my son Jason will be married to his beautiful fiance Kat. Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting his mates for hid bucks day. 8 wonderful young men whom have helped shape him into the fine young man that he is. A long drive to Katoomba for a cannoning adventure. Whilst waiting for them to emerge from the Grand Canyon at the Evans Lookout car park can you imagine the despair I felt when Emergency services rescue squads started to arrive. With 8 young men including 2 sons down in that valley. There was a patient injured in the valley and a helicopter retrieval was being organized whilst rescue squad personnel prepared themselves for what could be a long night at temps under 10 degrees. After some enquiries I learned that a young lady had twisted her knee and was unable to walk the 2 hours back out of the valleys floor. One of the guides from the same company that the boys were with had tended the patient left supplies warm clothing small stove and company for the injured and rushed out of the valley to organize the rescue. Relief the boys were fine. Just before dark the chopper arrive to complete the rescue. The boys walked safely out of the valley most quite exhausted. To the crew from Blue Mountain Adventures well done your professionalism is top class your concern for others and your training saved a member of the public from a freezing night in the valley. To the emergency service personnel a big thank you. you put your lives on the line everyday. One of the police rescue officers changed into his gear and when he removed his uniform Shirt he revealed his secret. He was wearing a superman shirt. To me they are all supermen and women. The young lady was winched to safety and taken to hospital.
