Feeling seriously hopeless right now. I just received a proactive call from the AP at Ball High. Reminding all parents of the importance of attendance. New to me is the threat that kids with drivers licensees will not be allowed to renew them (or attain one) if their at tendency is poor. That pisses me off. I proceeded to ask when the first day of school is this year. I tried to look that up Monday. Everything on the GISD website is out-dated. This AP did not know either. Nor was the answer known to the question, When is registration? I am to call the AP back nest week and the answers will be available to those questions and the other unanswered questions I posed. What I heard: Send your child to school sick or otherwise so we are funded and paid whether we have capability of actually educating them or not. This is my 8th year of having a student there......one proactive one not-so-much. My kids have sat in the classes of great teachers and lousy ones. The problem lies in administration and there were even more issues with the proactive kid because there was more to mis-administrate! Schools have become such an all aspects of life encompassing entity that the one thing they are supposed to do....educate.....is the ball rolling through the crack. It is a parents job to feed, council and clothe their child. It is a parents duty to seek health care for their child. In case a parent is unable to do this there are social programs: WIC, Foodstamp and housing assistance, Medicaid for health and dental. WHY ARE THE SCHOOL DISTRICTS PROVIDING MANY OF THE SAME SERVICES?
