Felicitating the people on Eid-ul-Fitr, Chairman Jammu and kashmir - TopicsExpress

Felicitating the people on Eid-ul-Fitr, Chairman Jammu and kashmir Students Rights Group Tuesday called for celebrating the festival with austerity. Celebration in the midst of manslaughter sounds grossly incompatible. JKSRG directive to celebrate simple and austere eid shouldn’t be surprizing. Nearly 700 people have been killed in less than two months and not to ignore the injured ones, scores have lost their vital organs and hundreds are yet to recover. Yet we can’t outrightly deny the festivity Eid comes with, but this one demands a simplicity from us. After all we have lost lives. Though Islam never denies us the cheer Eid brings in the wake, but the way we have been agonised makes us think twice before we opt for a full blown celebration. Mah-e-Ramadhan teaches us self-introspection and self-restraint. So let’s introspect in order to restraint ourselves from committing any excesses. It is a moral duty of every Kashmiri to celebrate a simple eid (whether he aspires for freedom or not) because the collective psyche of nuslims has been hurt and even the status-quoists have admitted that innocents have been killed. A humble request to the victimised but valiant people of Kashmir. Let’s not wait for any further directive to celebrate an austere Eid. Let us do it ourselves fully guided by our own will. Let this Eid be really different and distinct from the one we normally celebrate. At least this time.
