Fenerbahçe Mark Yobo’s Birthday Fenerbahçe of Turkey defender, Joseph Yobo had a consolation to hold unto for missing out yet agai9n in action with the Super Eagles last weekend, as officials and club mates at his Istanbul-based side marked his birthday for him in style. While the Eagles’ skipper was not listed for the team’s World Cup qualifier against Malawi on home soil in Calabar, he had something exciting to take his mind of the match on the same evening in faraway Turkey, as the birthday bash became talk of the town at his base. Dramatically, at a time when reports had also emerged that Yobo could be shipped out on loan to a lower division side in Turkey, on account of Fenerbahçe surfeit of foreign players and quota restrictions in the Super Lig, the club surprised the defender when they organised a get-together to mark his 33rd birthday. On the same evening when the Eagles dumped Malawi 2-0 at U.J. Esuene Stadium, Calabar, Yobo had double delight to celebrate, following his earlier return to training after he was sidelined by injury for three weeks. The day of joy came in the former of a joint birthday bash alongside Emre and Topuz, courtesy the team, during which the three celebrants cut the cake together and afterwards Yobo thanked his coaches, officials and fellow players for the event. The attacker-turned-defender’s joy could double in the coming days, as he could be available for next league match away to Kasimpasa on Monday, September 16, although he again trained separately from the squad. "I was surprised about the party, I thank the team as a whole for putting the party together for me and my friends who are having our birthday at same period," said Yobo, who has also played for Michelin of Port Harcourt, Standard Liege of Belgium, Olympique Marseille of France and Everton of England.
