Fergus Curling Club. The first photograph of curlers and the Fergus Pipe Band is dated 1921. The gentlemen are standing at the corner of Albert and Tower Streets. Charlie Mattainis house and lumber yard are in the background. Charlie himself is the first fellow on the left hand side of the photograph. Makes sense that he should have his still in his lumberyard so close to the first arena/curling club doesnt it? For those who dont know, the first arena/curling club was on the east corner of Albert and Tower Streets. The second picture of the Curling Club does not have a date on it. These picture came from the Byerly collection. From the clothing I would say that the second picture was taken in the early 1900s.
