Fetishism Do we not encounter here the same double disavowal as in Marxian commodity fetishism? First, a commodity is deprived of its bodily autonomy and reduced to a medium which embodies social relations; then this network of social relations is projected into a commodity as its direct material property, as if a commodity has a certain value in itself, or as if money is in itself a universal equivalent.
