Join us at the official opening ceremony of Rotaract Global MUN on 4th September.Book your place now: opening.rotaractmun2014.org/ Jan Grasty OBE has been President and Trustee of the UK National Committee of UN Women since 2009 and a volunteer with UNIFEM since 2004. She leads the direction of the National Committee and its establishment as the UK representative for UN Women. She and her team are building support for the work of UN Women with government, corporate sector and civil society. Jan is an experienced marketer and business manager with a background in a global blue chip company; establishing and managing a public/private partnership; and providing consultancy services in the private and public sectors. Her role with UN Women UKNC includes advocacy work through government connections including the APG UN Women, GEO and DfiD ; establishing UN Women’s profile with the corporate sector and civil society and communicating UN Women’s position on key gender issues; and building commitment from the corporate sector to gender equality in the workplace. She is the Government nominated representative at CSW communicating the UK key messages to UN Women. Jan is committed to supporting long term change and improvement to the lives of women and girls providing justice, gender equality and economic opportunities. She sees the strategic role of UN Women coupled with its grassroots programmes as a major opportunity to bring about change. Jan was a Rotarian for over 15 years and represented her district on the national communications committee. Jan received an OBE in the 2014 Queen’s Birthday Honours List for services to women’s rights.
