Ficta en la hermosa página de Medieval Music: Thanks to Mr. Ruben Soifer (facebook/rubensoifermusico), and his efforts, The Ensamble Conjunto Musica Ficta de Buenos Aires, will never be forgotten. Here is the story: The Ensamble Conjunto Musica Ficta de Buenos Aires was created with the purpose of studying and spreading European Medieval and Renaissance music, as well as from Latin American Colonial period. Since its debut in1975, performed concerts took place in the most important theatres in Argentina and abroad. Due to its performance in Partita a Scacchi, Musica Ficta was specially awarded by the authorities in city of Maróstica (Italy). Teaching activities are worthy to be emphatized, as Musica Ficta offered educational courses and lectures, e.g, the one given at the III Encontro de Música Antigua (Curitiba, Brasil). In 1981, the Ensamble released its first long play, considered by Clarin, a prestigious newspaper from Buenos Aires, Argentina; as one of the best ten records of the year. When on the stage, Musica Ficta members use period customs, to help creating the appropriate atmosphere for their performed music. These costume designs were taken from surviving drawings and miniatures from the actual periods. They played instruments are replicas of the originals, all ancestors of modern instruments: Medieval and renaissance and medieval recorders, crumhorns, shawm, renaissanceand medieval flute, cornetto, renaissance lute, medieval lute, oud, fiddle, rebec, medieval and renaissance drums, derbake, nakir, and many other percussion instruments. As customes and instruments respect the original ones, also do the lyrics in the songs. Songs with languages from those periods are played and a brief explanation is given before each one is presented. Indeed, dramatic resources are employed for a whole and better understanding. During the concert, full of humour texts and poems are inserted between the show scenes. All together with the customs and instruments, a presentation from Musica Ficta shows not only being a concert, but become a vivid picture of the era. European Medieval and Renaissance, with the addition of Latin American music from XVII and XVIII centuries, are combined to result in colourful characterizations, while leading the audience to a world, though distant in time and geography, close to us in sensitivity and expression.
