Field Observation Report. Location: Public Park, Al Ain, UAE. Scene: Approx 10 acres, grassed areas, trees, water features, paved walkways and cycle tracks, picnic areas, childrens playground equipment. Present: A few families. Conditions: Early evening, weather fine, warm. Observe: Young couple, mid thirties, with son aged approx 9, strolling together through park. Smart casual dress, she with headscarf. Couple have arms around each other, clearly enjoy each others company. Enter: Security Guard, in Navy Blue uniform, complete with gold braided epaulets and chain. Mode of Transport: Slightly oversized brightly coloured childs tricycle. Observe: Security guard dismounts tricycle and approaches strolling couple, calling loudly to gain their attention. Issues verbal reprimand for their overtly lewd and lascivious behaviour. Returns to Tricycle Patrol, crime nipped in the bud. Strolling couple heed warning and are permitted to proceed with warning, maintaining clear space between them. Conclusion: Good to see Islamists taking seriously the issues of greatest concern and not getting distracted by some of the petty little things the media like to make a fuss about.
