Fifteen years after my father died, nine years after my mothers - TopicsExpress

Fifteen years after my father died, nine years after my mothers death but only two months after my brother was tragically killed I found myself sitting in the garden my parents old house in Cookridge, Leeds sifting through almost a dozen suitcases of photographs capturing lives lived over almost two hundred years between the three of them. Thousands of moments in time that mean nothing to my brother, sister and I as we selectively decided what would go on as a reminder and what would be burned and lost forever. Three months ago in Memphis Tennessee I wondered why, as Louis Le Princes great great granddaughter told me how, when her great great grandmother died the remaining family destroyed so very many documents and possibly films and maybe even some of his prototype cameras. How sad and tragic I thought at the time and here am I a short time later doing the same. Although my parents never left the same mark on Leeds as Le Prince they lived a full and rich life well documented, much now turned to ashes as they themselves became. Jolly reminder on a Sunday morning that we should all carpe diem !!
