Fifteen years ago, I realized that real estate was not as much fun as I thought that it would be. I enjoyed the business but I was constantly frustrated and worried. That year, I joined forces with Marsha Sell and Marsha immediately changed my perspective. You see, the things that caused me frustration and worry were caused by my way of viewing the business or, as Marsha said, You need a checkup from the neck up. I felt to that point that my job was to sell houses. I was frustrated that buyers did not always buy the houses that I wanted them to buy. I worried about when houses were going to sell and when buyers were going to buy because I was focused way too much on my income. The life changing advice that Marsha imparted was, Keith, it is our charge to forge relationships. Sure, along the way, we will sell a few houses but we want to focus on relationships. If you do that and focus on our clients best interests, you will find that you are not frustrated and that you will spend no time worrying about your income. Truer words have never been spoken. If you view what you do as selling houses, you may want to assess your thinking and take to heart the words that Marsha shared with me. It can change your life, your career, and your bank account.
