Film: Three Extremes Language: Korean, Japanese and Chinese Country: Collaboration of South Korea, Japan and China Three Extremes has three short Asian films rolled into one feature film. This is quite a common phenomena in Europe and Asia, while collabs are popping up in the US Market as well. Three Extremes meanwhile, consists of three horror shorts. Dumplings(1st segment): A rich Chinese woman goes to the grey market to acquire a delicacy of dumplings that are said to keep aging women young. The woman obtains the delicacy, that of Dumplings (duck eggs eaten half cooked while the baby duck is still inside) and sure enough she starts to see the changes. But little does she know, that the dumplings will make her want for more, and what she does makes for a thrilling ride. Fruit Chan has made the film with intricacies of the lifestyles of the rich and non loving couples. The story is well told and has a very enjoyable ending. Cut(2nd segment): An A-list Korean director has just finished shooting a vampire film sequence and is going home. On the way he makes a few calls and reaches late. As he settles down, he realizes something odd is happening and BAM! hes knocked out. He wakes to find himself tied against a wall and sees his wife tied to her piano right in front of his eyes. As his assailant starts to torture the director, he realizes that the assailant is none other than an extra in his films, who just wants to be a star. This is Chan Wook Parks film, he directs his own worst nightmare, it appears, the dialogue between the extra and the director is dark and sadistic. Park keeps it nice and horrific, right till the end. Box(3rd Segment): An exotic performer, uses his twin pre-teen daughters for his acts. The flexible girls, fit easily into the small boxes that are used in the act. But, one sister gets jealous and locks the other sister in one of the boxes. A fire breaks out and the girl in the box burns to her death. But what happens to the sister who escaped alive, is a damn treat to watch. Takashi Miike, takes his love for David Lynch and makes a film about it. Lynchian influence dominates the story and the making, and we see just how talented Miike is at anything he does. imdb/title/tt0420251/?ref_=nv_sr_1
