Filmmaker scouting STV for new film; Sean Young, Casper Van Diem to star Posted July 23, 2013 at 4:00 pm By Bridgette Crosby Southeast Valley Ledger In a sleepy little town not yet recognized as a city, local film maker Jean-Paul Hellendall is scouting for locations to film his upcoming movie, ‘The Handyman’. Hellendall is a local resident in San Tan Valley who has over 20 years in the film and TV industry. Born in Miami, Florida, Hellendall has lived in New York, Los Angeles and Las Vegas and worked as actor, writer and director. Hellendall wrote his first script when he was 12 years old and has produced short films such as ‘The Boyfriend’ and the critically acclaimed ‘Judgement’. According to Hellendall, the director is scouting San Tan Valley locations for filming his newest project entitled ‘The Handyman’. The story is about a handyman who lives in a quiet neighborhood and always finishes the job, even if it means killing. ‘The Handyman’ befriends a young girl named Jessie, but after going on a killing spree in the neighborhood, he leaves Jessie unharmed and leaves town. Years later, after Jessie is grown up, she is killed while searching for the handyman near mile marker 187. The handyman learns about her death and has a new reason to start killing again. In a phone interview with Hellendall, the director stated that he is looking for the perfect San Tan Valley neighborhood in which to film the feature and that he will be using locals for the restaurant scene in the film, but that it is too early to say how many will be needed. Hellendall also stated that actress Sean Young, known for her roles in movies such as ‘Blade Runner’, ‘Dune’ and ‘Ace Ventura: Pet Detective’, and that actor Casper Van Dien, from ‘Starship Troopers’ will star. Hellendall stated that the film will be out in the fall of 2014 and that he is seeking investment partners.
