Finally have a moment to ruminate about the 37th Annual Vancouver - TopicsExpress

Finally have a moment to ruminate about the 37th Annual Vancouver Folk Music Festival: it was awesome. Got taken on three immense sonic journeys by the incredible Andrew Bird, Amos Lee, and the Casey Driessen Singularity, and experienced musical rapture induced by breathtakingly beautiful pedal steel playing by at least four different acts. Who do I know who plays pedal steel? How can I play pedal steel? How have my ears not understood how amazing this instrument is? To some it may sound like cheesy country-old-timey music but in the right hands in the right song?.... WOW. What a sound. What a FEELING~! Case in point: metacafe/watch/8226989/rose_cousins_white_daisies/ Its that instrument that slides between the notes, starting at 0:12 to 0:34. So sweet~! Her special guest pedal steel player at the Folk Fest was tremendous. Outstanding. Incredible. Super interesting conversations among and between artists, me, each other on the rides to the airport on Monday. What a great committee to be on. Post-fest rocks! Add in quality time with people I know and love, including, but not limited to, April Martin-Ko, Ed Ko, Kenneth Austin Lister, Laura Morrison Dylan Morrison Myers, Karen Valair, Joseph Pallant, Erin Kendoll Will Stacey, Darrel Yurychuk, David Hatfield, Sara Blenkhorn, and so many more, and its no wonder Folk Fest is one of my favourite weekends of the year. Of all time~!
