Finally just got home after travelling around half of the NSW - TopicsExpress

Finally just got home after travelling around half of the NSW countryside on my longest run with the Heritage Express team, and it was a great way to spend the weekend, keeping busy so I didnt have things on my mind that would bring me down with my grandfather passing last week. I cant say that I saw much apart from the stations we stopped at and a few minutes I got to spend beside the rolling countryside outside my window watching beautiful scenery pass by like a living painting as we were approaching Parkes, but that didnt worry me, I was just enjoying doing something that in my wildest dreams I never thought I would be doing, my Grandmother built the kitchens on the Southern Aurora carriages, now I got to work on the SNORA! After being on the train for 60+ hours and stopping at Tarana, Orange, Dubbo and spending 14 hours in Parkes for the Elvis Festival, standing at a sink washing plates and cutlery for what felt like an eternity, especially when the train is rocking and rolling along, its now time to have a shower, a drink and put my feet up, Id have a bite to eat but I was completely stuffed with food on the train as Bern the Chef cooked some beautiful meals for the staff (as well as the passengers) and was great fun to work with her and Alex in the kitchen too! I want to thank everyone who was on the train for making it a great weekend especially the staff who came and assisted me with doing the dishes in the tiny cramped kitchen when, you all made my first trip on the Southern Aurora one to remember, and Im very impressed with how the team works together as if they do it every weekend instead of the 4-5 times a year the train heads out. Id also like to thank Scott McGregor who chartered the train, and arranged for a great Elvis impersonator, David Cazalet to be on board the train, who was also great entertainment for the staff after the passengers had gone to bed on Friday night. I am really looking forward to working with the passenger services team again on Australia Day when we take some passengers down the South Coast, and a number of other events this year, Ill be counting down the days!
