Finally the time has come for all the residents of Durgapur, or the residents of Durgapur to cheer themselves up because of some facts showcasing the reality that how special we Durgapurians are. This can be evidenced by the following points : 1. Shreya Ghoshal, the leading female Playback Singer was Born In Durgapur in 1984 (for more reference check about Shreya Ghoshal in Wikipedia) 2. In our city Durgapur, the leading Tollywood Actor Rudranil Ghosh was born and he is a pass out from Bidhan Chandra Institution. 3. In the previous month, the entire shooting crew of the Bengali Movie 'Samadhi' had chosen our city Durgapur as the best shooting spot which is better and peaceful than Kolkata. The movie has several sequences trailing around The Mission Hospital, Bidhannagar, Durgapur and some other areas in our City. The movie will be released on September last. The remarkable actors of the movie are Govinda, Gracy Singh, Firdous (Bengali Actor). The music director of the film is none other than Bappi Lahiri, and you can watch the trailer in TV channel Dhoom Music. 4. Actors Arjun Kapoor (who acted in the hindi movie 'Ishaqzaade') and Priyanka Chopra will be coming to Durgapur this September for the final sequence shoot of the upcoming Hindi Movie called 'Gunday" and will also stay here upto first week of October. The First Aerotropolis Of India will be In Durgapur (whose one of the stakeholders is Changi Airports International, Singapore) and the work has been completed. Now only the runway has to be properly tested and the radars have to be set up. The aerotropolis will consist of an array of residential complexes, shopping malls, multiplexes, industrial and IT parks. It will also have both Helipad for the Helicopters and the airport for the aeroplanes. It is spread over an area of 1977 acres of land. 6. Our city Durgapur was the first to experience high speed 3G services from BSNL, Airtel, and Aircel in the State of west Bengal. Even then, much later of course, Kolkata got to experience the 3G services. 7. The Junction Mall, Durgapur, is the biggest Non-Metro shopping Mall in Eastern India. 8. Our City was first to use CNG powered vehicles like autos in the whole Eastern India. 9. Durgapur Steel Plant has the latest Blast furnace, which is a Russian Import. I am proud to be born in Durgapur, and I hope that my friends from Durgapur feel the same about themselves. Now, everyone in India will know about our City Durgapur. This speaks of the glory of our city.
