Finally watched Disneys Frozen last night. And of course I have heard all the talk about it being Pro-gay/lesbian. Supposedly, the song Let it go is about coming out. I think that theory is wasted on something far more important...learning to control and brittle our emotions and passions. Notice I said LEARNING. How can we learn if we are not being given room to learn for ourselves? When the troll told the parents that their daughters powers needed to be controlled so she wouldnt hurt someone again..all the parents heard was the word CONTROL and so they shut the castle off to the outside world and her own sister. Now...how are you supposed to learn something in a confined and sheltered space? So I see it as a suppressed, sheltered and controlled person finally being able to express who she is. It was her parents FEAR that made HER fearful and not confident in her own ability to control herself and her powers. I think that is very pertinent to todays raising and rearing healthy, independent, strong and confident kids that does not feel a crazy need to go balistic To define themselves when they get out from under their parents rule (that is often ruled by their own fears) but rather..they have been given a voice and space to express their own individuality (To a limit of course!) So they grow up more even keel , more balanced and more confident. I felt...If Frozen had a hiddenmessage ..rather than being a gay/lesbian agenda..it was a lesson in ..as parents..educators and leaders..to trust our kids..to give them space to be individuals..to guide them ..but not to control them. It only leads to rebellion and resentment. Just my two cents on the movie. I really liked it.
