Finance Manager The Society in collaboration with the British Red Cross (BRC) seeks to help people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are as part of a global voluntary network, responding to conflicts, natural disasters and individual emergencies. Currently, BRC supports longer term work in six countries in East Africa. It contributes financially, and sometimes technically, to disaster response programmes throughout the region. The programme portfolio includes work supported from a variety of funding sources, including institutional donors and public fundraising. The Society is looking for a qualified person to fill the following position: Position Title: Finance Manager Reporting to: BRC East Africa Representative Job location: Nairobi, KRCS Headquarters Position summary A qualified accountant, with strong, relevant experience is sought to join a small, very busy, BRC team to support BRC’s work with partner Red Cross and Red Crescent societies in East Africa. The post holder is responsible for ensuring effective financial management and compliance for all BRC supported programmes in East Africa. S/he will develop and manage financial processes related to BRC programmes (with a particular focus on restricted funds) and administrative work; s/he will manage the financial reporting and audit requirements to ensure that internal and donor requirements are met, this will include the preparation of financial statements, budget narratives and funds requests. Where needed, the post holder will develop and deliver financial training for local BRC staff and partners. The post holder will undertake financial risk assessments in relation to the work supported by BRC. As well as having an appropriate professional qualification and excellent technical skills, applicants should have considerable experience in a relevant role; they should have excellent communication skills and an advanced knowledge of computerised accounting systems, excel and word. Applicants should have strong analytical, reporting, presentation and facilitation skills; and the ability to be self managing and work as part of a team.
