Financial Question Im still confused about: The last time I paid my credit card at Bank of America, they talked me into this other credit card where you get points and cash back on purchases. However, I thought we were upgrading the card I already have, not actually signing up for a whole new second one. Now, I have the new card, not activated. I really dont want two cards, but I keep reading conflicting reports about whether or not cancelling an unactivated credit card hurts your credit score. If i cancel my old card which Ive held since 2001 and just keep the new one, I will lose my credit history supposedly according to the bank and my higher credit limit. I really dont want to juggle two credit cards just to get 3% or less back on stuff on a card that doesnt even have a great limit. Can I cancel this new card or not? Has anyone else cancelled a new unactiviated card without problem?
