Find Your Past Would you like to know more about your ancestors? Find Your Past carries out family history research on the surname of your choice (maternal or paternal side of your family). Do you know anyone else who is interested in his or her family history. A family tree, and the associated information, would be a wonderful present for birthdays and/or Christmas. How Find Your Past works No win, no fee! That’s a term that has been going around for years. In family history research circles however, it’s normally the case that any research, successful or not, is charged for. Find Your Past works in a different way. Finding out whether there is a distinct family line to follow back into the past is not the most time consuming part of family history research. So if the initial check on the surname you’re most interested in shows no researchable information, there’ll be no charge for any time spent . (Please see attached for full details). Prices Please see the attached documents for details on prices. Easy Payment Option Ive been looking at ways that would allow anyone who would like to have their family trees researched, even though they might not necessarily have the immediate funds available to pay for it. Research for one surname is £100, and can provide information on any number of generations; with my own I have gone back to early 1800s on one side of the family, and early 1700s on another. The Easy Payment option splits the one surname cost into four payments of (£25) or five of (£20), over a period that best suits you (Please see attached for full details). Some of the types of information that you will receive One of the greatest aids in family history research in the UK is the census return. With the first main one carried out in 1841, and every ten years thereafter, these are a great source of information. The attached 1871 census (courtesy of National Archives) shows John Sykes, who is my 2nd Great Grandfather on my Mothers side of the family. This document, along with the wedding banns (courtesy of West Yorkshire Archives) for him and my 2nd Great Grandmother (Elizabeth Norbury), shows some of the information you might receive when you have your own family tree researched. As you can see, the details provided by documents like these help create a picture of our relatives, what they did, where they lived and, in some cases, whether they were able to write their own name.
