Fire - Scary at the best of times; really scary on a little 1km long island. Tonight, the kids were in bed, and CJ and I were heading for a late dip in the outside backyard jacuzzi, when I saw the glow of fire in the sky and what sounded like 100s of men yelling.... I thought maybe it was a show, but instinct had me go check it out and what I saw was MAYHEM! 300 feet from our place, a blaze in the palm trees, with dozens of Asian men yelling and screaming at each other trying to get fire hoses connected. (just hours earlier this afternoon I saw the fire hydrants and wondered if they were actually connected to anything or just for show!) After racing back to our place, waking the kids up, and packing the valuables (passports from the safe first!) we were on our way to the muster point. A staff member met us at the door telling us to evacuate, but my little troopers were well ahead of her.... even Caate who really had no desire to wake up from her deep sleep. :) We heard yelling and screaming coming from the bushes, but the flames were controlled. A staff member told us that the incinerator had caught fire; so lots of smelly smoke. Ryden said we need to pray and we did... asking God not to let anyone get hurt! The Muster point was the bar, and the waiter asked if wed like to order a drink! HA! I guess even a fire cant shake the relaxed island life. Eventually we were allowed back to our place, fire is out, and it appears that no one got hurt. (not that they would tell us even if someone did!) Perhaps tomorrow we can sneak a few photos. For now everyone is safe at home sleeping. Here is a little video clip that we took after getting the all-clear....
