Fire Ants Acting Like Liquid and Solid We all know the ants and have spend countless hours trying to kill ants which have invaded our living spaces, but apart from being annoying to us humans, ants are a highly intelligent and organized species. Fire ants in particular are pretty cool! A group from the Georgia Institute of Technology has set up an amazing experiment, in the experiment fires ants showed the viscosity of a rubber ball and flowed through a funnel like a thick syrup (check out the video below). Apart from gaining valuable insight on the ant itself scientists can use the knowledge obtained from studying the fire ant and apply it to a whole range of different fields from robotics to the next generation of self-healing materials.
