Fire updates from our Mid-Columbia Today interview with Oregon State Fire Marshals office incident management team public information officer Justin DeRuyter: About 200 acres have burned west of Rowena, and 20 homes are threatened. A Red Flag Warning is in effect for today, with hot temperatures, low humidity, and a west wind that could reach 35 to 45 miles per hour. Those winds pose the biggest problem in trying to contain this fire. DeRuyter indicated it may not be safe to put firefighters in its path. Structural protection task forces from Washington, Yamhill, and Columbia counties are being brought in to help protect homes.
