Firefighter: Field Level Service Provider Requirements During the recruitment and selection process, ones skills and experience in relation to personal qualities and attributes will be assessed. He or she will be asked to recall past experiences using specific examples because past performance and experience is a good indicator of future performance. A person without past experience may also be recruited as service provider on basis of some attributes which fulfills the job description. For example, Firefighters, more than most other professionals, need to possess a multitude of skills and talents. Working as a fire fighter entails physical and mental strength and endurance. With great responsibilities and difficult challenges that fire fighters face in times of fire incidents, sometimes strength and endurance aren’t enough. There are also many personal traits necessary to ensure that firefighters are properly and respectfully representing their department and profession as well. The firefighter candidate should be aware of these qualities, make sure they possess and work on them, be able to show proof of such qualifications and be able to express them. Many aspects and the most crucial aspects of the job require firefighters to have above-average strength and consciousness. Fire fighters are not only considered on basis of physical aspects alone as there is something more important than the needed strength, flexibility and endurance- and this is a fire fighter’s personal qualities. A fire fighter’s outlook and determination on the job is what counts the most. The technical, procedural and operational skills are top most demand in this service. A fire fighter should inherit commitment to diversity and integrity, confidence and spirit himself, ability to working with team members, effective communication in emergency situations, planning and implementing thoughts. Passion to serve and work ethics define fire fighters more specifically. Every firefighter must have some basic mechanical aptitude. If he has never turned a wrench, or know how his own house is built, he will need to start learning these things. Tolerance level should be more than significant. A fire fighter should always keep in mind what is self sacrifice; being equally concerned with the well being of others as much with your own well being.
