Firestone = Ripoff, They have proven it to me today, but I always - TopicsExpress

Firestone = Ripoff, They have proven it to me today, but I always knew they were shady. Originally got an estimation for work, struts and spings for rear of my vehicle. The rear strut and spring assembly for a Ford Explorer now comes in a convenient “quick strut” it is called, cuts down the installation by 75% at least and eliminates the dangers of compressing the spring into the strut assembly. My initial quote for the Monroe “Quick Strut Assembly” was around $750.00 and that is exactly what I thought I was getting. I asked to check the actual model number on the strut, I did, it was not the strut assembly I ordered, but a cheaper strut and spring assembly made by NAPA. I looked up the actual model # on line it went for $65.00 – So IFI had gone for a walk and gotten a coffee they would have put in the junk. I complained to high hell about and proved that they were lying to me. They claimed, “ well the computer just gives generic model numbers and we go by what it says” So in essence a customer gives you specific information and the “computer” finds the lowest priced most cheaply made part even when they are completely aware of the fact that they are selling you the exact opposite of what you want. I let them know I was going to call the police to inform them that they (Firestone) was attempting to commit fraud by actually attempting to sell me an inferior product to what I ordered, but the manager promised me he would install a top of the line strut and shock assembly. I asked for a model # again, but he calmly lied and said he didn’t have one, but would show me the strut assembly before they put it in my vehicle. LIE. He showed me the strut assembly and this time it was of even cheaper quality than the one previous, made by “auto international” and it was visibly cheaper as well. I finally pointed my finger straight to his face and said buddy your lying to me through your teeth and I am going to call the police and let them set your ass straight and in the mean time file and injunction against this damned company. He then said OOOhhhhh I know the strut assembly you want, the Monroe Sensa Shock quick strut assembly. I said no shit Sherlock that was the product you quoted me on in the first place, are you going to install it in my truck or not? During this whole debacle my truck was sitting on the lift with no shocks on the back just hanging there. They tried to con me twice and kept lying to me about the product they were installing into my vehicle. Finally after three and a half hours the manager figured out I was not going to back down and ordered the right equipment even after he said he could not have that model number there for another two days. I will give him two days, then after that he will be without a job.
