First Happy New Year! Second I will slowly be returning messages - TopicsExpress

First Happy New Year! Second I will slowly be returning messages left on my cell phone over the last few days. I appreciate people checking on us. The snow started late Tuesday evening. I woke around midnight to the sound of crashing trees and panicked horses. I quickly realized Karen was not yet home from work and went to my cell phone to send a text. When I looked at my phone there was already a text, she needed me to call immediately. There is only limited cell reception at our home. I managed to connect for only a moment and heard a very scared voice tell me she was ok but that trees had fallen around her car on the way up the hill and she was trapped. She went on to tell me one had just landed on her car breaking the window, the phone went dead. Several minutes later we connected again. Karen tells me some people helped her get her car out but the road is now blocked, the phone goes dead again. Several more minutes and we connect again. Shes now in a car with Walter and they trying to get up the hill another way. WTH.....Who the heck is Walter and why is he out in a blizzard in the middle of the night? Flashbacks of the movie Taken.... Several minutes later I get a text that Karen and Walter are staying with friends about five miles away, Thank You Vic and Diana. The next morning it takes me over an hour to get to where Karen is. I have to pull three of my panicked neighbors out of the snow and get them pointed back down the hill. Mercedes and BMWs are great cars but why would you try to drive one in over a foot of new snow. I get Karen and it takes another hour to get home ( my same neighbors are insisting on driving there very nice cars off of the road). Karen and I have spent the last several days in front of the fireplace eating pizza baked in the BBQ. Power and phone and heat came back on this morning. Spent the day fixing broken water lines and will be working for several weeks to cut up the dozens of beautiful trees that fell. ( I know my out of state ranching friends are smiling as they read those). Anyway.......we survived. Hope this is not what the entire next year is going to be like.
