First Sunday at GFBC is Communion Sunday & Pastor Grooms has designated it as Salvation Sunday. Today he preached from Acts 2:38, he taught on Simple Salvation. Heres the outline, video coming soon. I. Too many people today are confused about their salvation a) Its complicated by the church sending the wrong message: 1) they focus on membership, not relationship and 2) they do a poor job of discipleship. b) Its complicated by people: 1) they rather be entertained, than edified and 2) they have no clear understanding of the requirements of God. II. The Textual Story a) the people had an encounter with the Gospel b) they had a decision making faith c) they had a life altering faith and d) they received the gift of the Holy Spirit because of their faith. III. The Result a) new relationship to sin (the power to resist it) b) discovered purpose (to glorify God with your life) and c) new destiny (eternal life in heaven instead of hell)
