First, can I just say I love these memes. So, heres my thing, EMTs, Paramedics, Nurses and so on, are all necessary to work. Its like how if we are understaffed, I sometimes have to stay on an additional shift even if I have already finished my own scheduled shift. It doesnt matter. Its not like the patients just go away. Even if everyone promised to be really really good and not get hurt on Christmas so that not nurses had to work that day... There would still be accidents and people with chronic illnesses that need treatment. When I get upset about stores being own and retail workers having to work during Thanksgiving, its because I think its obserd. Unless your job is nessisary for the function of health and safety, unless your job requires you to run into a burning building while others are running out of it, then you should have the freaking holiday off. Black Friday has always be something completely forien to me. And to those who go and shop that day, have at it. I will be staying home or spending time with friends. But I really dont appreciate that the Christmas Season has been expanding more and more each year in what feels like an arms race between retailers. Oh, you opened at 5 am last year? Then we will open our doors at 4 am... Oh yeah, well well open our doors at 7 pm... The day before... It seems really unnessisary to me. Leave Thanksgiving alone. Oh, and although health care workers, police and so on are expected to work the holiday... And no one bats an eye.. we probably dont want to. But we do so knowing that our patients and those we serve will get to safely enjoy the holiday.... Sorry about the rant.
