First century Israelite historian Flavius Josephus made record - TopicsExpress

First century Israelite historian Flavius Josephus made record that the Sabbath of God had been enjoined by most all nations: Nay, farther, the multitude of mankind itself have had a great inclination of a long time to follow our religious observances; for there is not any city of the Grecians, nor any of the barbarians, nor any nation whatsoever, whither our custom of resting on the seventh day hath not come... (Flavius Josephus, Against Apion/Antiquites of the Jews, Book 2, section 40:282) The Sabbath day starts from Friday at evening and ends the following evening on Saturday. In Leviticus 23:32 the L_rd says this: ‘From evening to evening shall you celebrate your Sabbath’ Unlike the social calendar which starts and ends a day at 12 ‘O’ clock midnight, a day in the Bible is a period of time which is measured between one evening to the next. In other words, a day begins at evening and lasts until the following evening. A day in the Bible is divided into two parts darkness and light. In Genesis 1:1-5 we read, ‘the evening and the morning were the first day,’ ‘the evening and the morning were the second day,’ and so on.
