First of all, thank you to those of you who sent me birthday wishes; it means more than you will ever know. I have been on a long Facebook vacation, due to an array of health issues. After more than a year in Michigan -- five months spent at Henry Ford Hospital -- it feels good to be back in the DC area with Elaine and Matthew. Much to my surprise the rumors of my passing were somewhat exaggerated...lets just say one year of bowel disease, kidney stones and seizures, which resulted in eight broken ribs and a broken right shoulder (the Tigers were interested in signing me for their bullpen, but they finally decided a mid-50 year old with a broken shoulder would be useless even for them) and finding out I actually am brain damaged (insert you joke here) took the wind out of my sail for a bit. Sincere thanks to me mum, brother and Jen; to Lisa, Dan and Vance; and especially Joe and Marj who have always been there when I have fallen. Most of all...Elaine, words alone can not due justice for what you have done and been through; but were back under the same roof again with many new beginnings to look forward to.
