First off, I want to say thank you to all the people who responded to my requests to adjust my pronouns to a more gender neutral they as opposed to the default/assumed he, after Facebook let me change it on my profile. In the month and a half or so since then, this pronoun shift, along with some conversations Ive had, have really given me a lot of fuel for introspection towards my gender dysphoria and how I identify and express myself as a result of it, The conclusion Ive come to is that the They thing ultimately does not work for me. I am grateful beyond words to everyone who made the effort and tried to adjust for me. But the state it put me in of being hyper aware of my pronouns at all times was much more taxing and stressful for me than just having people call me He or She.
