First point - Fire that idjit Fantinos ass! Although I support the Harper Government, and they are the best of the 3 evils we have, I am not a huge supporter of how they treat Veterans or how they treat me. Although I will say this, they have treated me better than 16 years of Chretien and Martin, and I know that Trudeau 2.0 will just be another iteration of Trudeau 1.0 who really started us down this road of ill treatment of Veterans and the Military. Harper needs to talk to us Veterans - not the talking heads that are always interviewed on TV .. they have their views, but the rest of us who are living and have lived with this for 20 years or more - well we actually have a clue as to what is really happening with those that either slip through those so called cracks in the system or for those of us who are bearing the brunt of balancing the budget on our backs. VAC has fought me for 22 years and DND denied me my medical pension even though I was apparently very sick with a life threatening illnes on retirement and they didnt tell us. VRAB has said that VAC erred way back in 1992 and I should have been given my pension that I was 100% entitled to, but the bureaucracy denied that pension and over the years saved at least $600,000.00 just with this one pensioner. And that is based on a Cpls pay - at max I could have gotten $27,000.00 per year with a spouse and 5 kids. By myself it would have been more like $12,000.00 maximum. And I am not the only one - multiply that by say 2,000 veterans with families over that time period and poof - that number gets huge to say the least. That 1.13 billion? Couldnt be spent? Bullshit ... If Fantino actually did his friggin job .. there would not have been any returned to the federal coffers and maybe there would be more Veterans not suffering so badly. Course we know that Harper will end up with a $400,000.00 plus/per year pension when he retires .. Fantino will get close to $200,000.00 plus/per year as will Nicholson. This pisses me off. Robbing Veterans to fund MP pensions Disgusting. And our Vice Regal who is the Commander in Chief for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II - should make it mandatory that this Government and every succeeding Government take care of our Veterans and ensure that there are zero barriers to a Veteran getting a pension. After all, the only people in Canada who should get a Federal Pension without having to fight for it, is Veterans. In reality it is the bureaucrats and politicians who have given that benefit to themselves over the objections of the electorate!
