First thing this morning I get an email from the university informing that I have failed to get my award and that I will not graduate... Its a rather nasty surprise after Ive just spent a fortune having my thesis bound and finally breathed a sigh of relief and felt free from the last four years of struggle. I send an email questioning the above missive and they get back to me half an hour later (which felt like a forever) to inform me that I do have the award but I missed the deadline for sending in the afore mentioned bound thesis. Therefore I cant wear a gown in January and will have to wait. As much as Im glad that I have passed and relieved that the email was truly misleading, Im now feeling sorry for all those students who get these kind of emails and dont have a supportive family / friend base with them, and Im quite glad I wont have to wear a cushion on my head or robes ever again.
