First ultra complete (Born To Run, Llanelli). Even led the race - TopicsExpress

First ultra complete (Born To Run, Llanelli). Even led the race for all of 2 or 3 seconds. Lol. Ran first 17 miles then dropped into run / walk after that. Acute pain in left knee from mile 25, but a fistful of ibuprofen at the bag drop at mile 29 kicked in by mile 31 and it was game on again. Next 7 were quite slow and the run around machynys golf course lasted forever! I then saw 2 people catching me up so ditched the run/walk and set my fastest splits for the last 2 miles reeling in another competitor :-) Pretty crap time of 8h30m but I wasnt last and first home of the WRRs! Ok, I was the only WRR, but well overlook that :-) Great event, very friendly - I cant think of any race where the leaders high 5 you as they go past in the opposite direction - and a cracking goody bag at the end. Can deffo recommend it as a first ultra. Its weird how after a 20-30 mile run Im ravenous, yet after a 40 mile ultra I couldnt even think about food. Wtf? **originally posted last night but FB decided not to**
